hey y'all!
as you can tell, baby hb hasn't been put on this blog. hb & i actually try to limit putting her picture up on any social media sites, but then i think...are we just postponing the invetitable?
every day, in some way, i'm sure baby hb is being photographed/videoed - in public spaces, to some extent we all are. big brother is always watching right?
i'm always conflicted...how do i know that her picture isn't up on someone's facebook page when we all happened to be at a lacrosse game and a friend of a friend took the picture? what will we do when she attends a birthday party and a parent takes a picture of her? or what if a parent wants to put a class picture up? it's one of those things that i struggle with because if some random person has it up, then why can't we allow those that love us to put pictures up? so far, our friends and family have been so respectful of our wishes, but is it asking too much?
thoughts??

diaper rash remedies
hey y'all!
baby hb had a mean case of diaper rash last week, and i searched and asked any moms i knew what i could do to get rid of it.
the pediatrician and probably a lot on online sources will recommend saturating your baby wipes with water and then patting the bum area clean, drying the bum area and then applying a zinc oxide paste. this worked well for us until last week when she had to be changed constantly.
at daycare, they don't have the time to follow the steps above, so here's what we did that helped:
1. mylanta & corn starch: saturate a cotton ball with mylanta - make sure the bum area is completely covered in mylanta; this helps soothe the area. next, cover the area with a nice coat of corn starch - what you would use for cooking. baby hb could not even bear to be wiped down there until we used this.
2. a & d diaper rash treatment: this continues to help baby hb. the rash has cleared up and she's back at daycare.
one thing that we did and i recommend you do if you can is to keep your baby home and wash the area in the tub with soap and water everytime she would need a change. we let her bum air dry and i believe it helped her so much!

5k run with Santa
hey y'all! hope everyone is having an awesome week. hb & i finally got the pics from the race, and don't we look cool? actually, hb looks like he is having a nice leisurely run, whereas i look like i'm about to die. notice how there are no runners really behind us - in fact, just a woman out to run errands! next time, it will be a better finish for sure!!
ps, in case you were wondering about my gear - headband is from manzella, longsleeve crew is from mizuno, shorts by nike, tights by underarmour, and the half-zip is pearl izumi. next time i think i would probably just wear the crewneck.

13 and eaux
hey y'all! i'm sure by now y'all know that lsu will be playing alabama in the national championship game. it's kind of annoying that we have to play a team we have already beaten in the regular season, BUT i will say that bama is probably the second best team in the nation. one sportscaster said that the rest of the conferences should not be up in arms about this since they didn't take care of business in the regular season. i agree, but it would have been nice to have the national title game as an obvious win for us. the honey badger is ready for this game though.
speaking of honey badgers, my friends have now taken to calling me this since i use the honey badger as motivation when i run. every time i think i want to stop, i just think of how tenacious the honey badger is and keep going. unfortunately, i did walk part of the time at my first 5k this weekend. the silver lining is that although i woke up feeling cold and achy, i was able to finish in 43 minutes when my goal was to finish in 45. i guess i can only get better from here.
geaux tigers!!

nervous nelly
hey y'all! i'm sure everyone is prepping for a fun filled thanksgiving, but while everyone is enjoying the leftovers and black friday sales, i'll be filled with nervous anxiety when lsu plays arkansas in the battle of the boot. as some of you know, i'm a big lsu fan. i love my former state and i LOVE my school! BUT, i'm so nervous to play arkansas as they are number 3. my hope is to finish the season undefeated and have alabama lose to auburn (war eagle to all you auburn fans out there!!). i was so counting on oklahoma state to go undefeated, because no offense, but i know that the national title would be ours playing them or oregon in the big game. now, i'm so nervous to potentially go up against bama again! the silver lining in all of this is that whoever we play, we play in the superdome in new orleans - how's that for home field advantage?? :)

love
hey y'all....
i just wanted to share this wonderful interview with christine lagarde on 60 minutes. she's truly a role model and i am so in love with how she carries herself and her honesty of what is going on with the economy. my favorite part of the interview was when asked her thoughts on being the first woman managing director of the imf, she said that she doesn't care about being the first but she really hopes to not be the last.
